L’être de bonne foi qui découvre la vie
Doit bien s’apercevoir que s’il est innocent,
Tout ce qu’on lui propose est tant avilissant,
Que s’il y accédait, sa foi sera ternie.
Mais lorsqu’un révolté, joyeux, l’âme ravie
Peut sans fard exprimer ce que son cœur ressent
Qu’importe s’il lui faut se battre contre cent
Individus pervers qui crèveront d’envie…
Bien pensants sociaux, je suis ce subversif
Qui n’a jamais admis le plus petit poncif ;
Alors, fuyez-moi tous en vous voilant la face.
Je soutiens le combat, je suis toujours debout
Et vainqueur, quel que soit le tort que l’on me fasse,
Et c’est tout mon orgueil — oui, j’irai jusqu’au bout !

I am that subversive
The being of good faith who discovers life
Must realize that if they are innocent,
Everything that is offered them is so demeaning,
That if they acceded to it, their faith would fade.
But when a rebel, joyful, their soul ravished
Can express frankly what their heart feels
What matter if they must battle a hundred
Perverse individuals who will burst of envy…
Right-minded social thinkers, I am that subversive
Who has never accepted the least of clichés;
So, flee from me, all of you, hiding your face.
I keep up the fight; I am still standing
Victor, no matter the wrong done to me,
And that is the whole of my pride — yes, I will go all the way!
