The Need
From Libertarian Labyrinth
O, GOD, I want a clothes-basketful of candy."
The child prayed long and fervently.
There was no answer.
Then the child bethought himself and knelt again and prayed, "I want money enough to buy a clothes-basketful of candy."
But there was no answer.
When the child was grown a man, he reviled God, because He had not answered the prayer of faith of the child, and God said, " You have money enough to buy a clothes-basketful of candy now."
"But I do not want it now," said the man.
God said, "Did you really want it then?" and the man answered, "No, it would have made me ill, I only wished for it."
"So," said God, " I did answer your prayer."
