What is Mutualism?
Mutualism is the original form in which anarchism appeared as an explicit political theory in the first half of the 19th century. It drew inspiration from, and opposed itself to, all the major schools of "utopian" socialism. It's earliest theorists included Josiah Warren, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, and William Batchelder Greene. At the heart of mutualism is a concern with justice as a matter of balance between free individuals, and a progressive, experimental approach to the construction of institutions.
